Common NDE Elements

Near-death experiences share certain common elements found across people, places and cultures.

Professor & Psychiatrist Bruce Greyson developed the 16 questions Greyson Near-Death Experience Scale to measure the depth of an individual’s near-death experience.

Here are a few of the most common elements. I created these videos from existing interviews to show the similarities between experiencers. Sorry for the crudeness of the videos as my focus was more on the testimonies rather than the video editing.

Out-of-Body

Experiencers come out of their body and realize the person they really are isn’t physical. We need the body to interact in this physical world but once we are dead the physical is set aside, at least temporarily in the case of NDEs.

A feeling of peace and comfort

Absent any biological and physical connections to the body informing the soul of physical pain, the soul is now totally free from discomfort, causing a well-being that envelops the experiencer. But the greater peace and comfort surrounding the experiencer appears to come from an external, personal and loving being, often described as a parent.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is quite possibly the quintessential piece of evidence supporting the veracity of near death experiences. These metaphysical eye-witness testimonies of Jesus, and thousands of others, correspond with reality, that is, Jesus’ physical, historical existence and evidence of his resurrection. Homogeneous accounts of his presence, dress, demeanor and tone reinforce that Jesus is not only alive today, but plays a central role during and after death.
